I have realised that our food habits are defined by what you have grown up eating. Of course you change them as and how you see fit for your overall health and nutrition but what remains close to your heart is what you have eaten in your growing years with your family and friends. Delectable Indian Street food, Vada Pav is one such food that I have eaten all my life and can still get me drooling.
I have grown up eating a variety of street foods in the khau gulley’s (food alley’s) of Mumbai. Out of them is my favorite, the most popular Indian street food, Pav Bhaji.
My favorite street food list is too long but you have to start somewhere. So I decided to start with Ragada pattice. Ragada is hindi for white peas curry and pattice is nothing but mashed potato cutlet. This recipe is simple, very filling and parts of the recipe can be pre made and kept To be assembled later for a huge gathering.
Why not make something that can be made with least efforts, can be cooked at a fast, and very satisfying to the soul with full contentment to the stomach – breakfast. It is a less oil recipe and can be made with no oil. So that makes it awesome for calorie conscious people. Instant semolina appe/ dumplings comes to mind
Today I made a starter that is delicious and yet uses just few main ingredients. It requires very less prep time and is liked by my teenage son. You see it is a winner.
